Prof. Karola Theill

Description: I instruct singers and pianists in song interpretation and the work of a répétiteur and accompanist, as well as coaching singers in the performance of oratorio and opera arias. This instruction consists not only in the musical and stylistic preparation of works, but also in developing an understanding of the content of their texts and poetry, as well as searching for an individual interpretation.

Background: I am a pianist specializing in song interpretation, inspired in my work by artists including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. For many years I have been working as solo répétiteur in the Voice department of the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, and I also teach a song interpretation course for singers and pianists at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater of Rostock. Concerts, song recitals and masterclasses complement my teaching activities.
